THE Madani Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2026 will launch in Perak with a focus on sustainable urban development, quality housing and community well-being, marking the first stop of this year’s nationwide series following strong participation across multiple states in 2025.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the event on April 4 at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah in Perak, while the programme itself will run from April 3 to 5, providing members of the public with direct access to a wide range of government services and community initiatives.

According to a statement issued by the PMR secretariat, Perak has been selected as the inaugural host state for 2026 after the programme’s positive reception in eight states last year.

“With the theme ‘Sustainable Cities, Quality Housing, Harmonious Communities’, the programme reflects the government’s push to integrate urban development with public well-being, including efforts to improve housing standards and foster social cohesion,” it said.

“The initiative also aligns with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan, which emphasises sustainable urban growth, housing development and community welfare,” the statement added.

The flagship programme is coordinated by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU), in collaboration with various ministries and agencies as well as the Perak state government.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry serves as the lead ministry for the Perak edition, with the state acting as host.

Visitors to the three-day event can expect a broad array of services and activities, including government service counters, healthcare services, Rahmah and Agro Madani sales, job opportunities, local food festivals and entrepreneur booths.

Additional highlights include a motorcycle helmet exchange initiative, free engine oil changes for motorcycles, complimentary haircuts, distribution of seeds and saplings, as well as exhibitions by defence and security agencies.

The programme will operate from 9am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 9am to 6pm on Sunday. The public is encouraged to attend and take advantage of the services and activities provided. - March 25, 2026
