
TACLOBAN CITY — A magnitude 4.9 earthquake rocked Eastern Samar early Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 1:05 a.m. and its epicenter was located 2 kilometers southwest of Maydolong, Eastern Samar.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 34 kilometers, state seismologists said.
