
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook the province of Cagayan early Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor happened at 6:01 a.m. seven kilometers (kms) southeast of Dalupiri Island, Calayan.
Tectonic in origin, the quake had a depth of 10 kms, Phivolcs said.
Although damage to infrastructure was unlikely, aftershocks are possible, the agency said.
