
MANILA, Philippines — New import Clint Chapman led Magnolia’s back-breaking third quarter surge to tow the Hotshots to their first win in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup via a 121-109 decision against the Macau Black Knights on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Chapman played superlatively in his PBA debut, scoring 15 points in the third canto where the Hotshots outscored the Black Knights, 32-17 following a tight first half to take complete control of the game.
Chapman finished with 39 points and 15 rebounds, Zavier Lucero had 23 and nine boards, while Jerom Lastimosa had 20, four and six assists to help the Hotshots snap a 0-3 start.
Macau dropped to 0-4 in the tournament, spoiling the coaching debut of Marcus Elliot.
Chong Pong Lao led Macau with 24 points while import Tony Mitchell had 22 and 14 against Magnolia, his former team.
