KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah/Labuan Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) has stepped up efforts to tackle persistent water supply issues affecting hotels, tourism operators, and residents across Kota Kinabalu and nearby districts.
The association is working with the Sabah Tourism Board (STB) and Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, who is also Works Minister, to develop short- and medium-term solutions to safeguard tourism operations.
Sabah/Labuan MAH chairman Suresh Ramasamy said the association’s priority is to maintain close communication with relevant government agencies while ensuring hotels are better prepared for water disruptions.
Key measures being coordinated include timely notifications of scheduled disruptions, dedicated water relief support for major tourism zones, and operational feedback from hotels to help prioritise high-impact areas.
Both Sabah/Labuan MAH and STB reaffirmed their commitment to improving industry resilience as Sabah gears up for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 under the State’s “Feel Sabah” campaign, highlighting its unique blend of nature, culture, and hospitality.
