In order to accomplish the same aim, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Chairman of the National Alliance (PN), and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad are now willing to collaborate.
His most recent assertion suggests that after being at odds for more than three years, the two former prime ministers might be able to work together once more.
According to Sinar Harian, Tun Mahathir stated that in addition to rejecting people who engage in corruption or criminal activity, efforts should be made to fight for the fate of the Malays.
Tun Mahathir continued that the Malay community's division along party lines makes it challenging for Malay political parties to address any issues.
"When we lose power, we are unable to address the issue harming the Malays. We must come together because of this," said Tun Dr Mahathir.
According to Malaysia Kini, the head of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Muhyiddin Yassin, commended Dr Mahathir Mohamad's desire to forge a partnership to fight for the rights of Muslim Malays.
According to Muhyiddin, who is also the president of Bersatu, the current political climate places Muslims and Malays at a difficult fork in the road.
"I appreciate Dr Mahathir's declaration that he is ready to collaborate with me in order to fight for the rights of Muslims and Malays.
"I am aware that recent political events have placed Muslims and Malays in this nation at a difficult fork in the road.
Therefore, Muhyiddin said, "As a Muslim, I am personally prepared to work with all Malay and Muslim figures, including Dr Mahathir, for the sake of the struggle to defend religion, race, and country."
However, despite both claiming that the collaboration was solely to fight for the Malays, netizens couldn't help but wonder if their collaboration was for their personal gain. According to Free Malaysia Today, this collaboration is no surprise to Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, says he has always expected his competitors, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Muhyiddin Yassin, to work together to safeguard their interests. "There's nothing new here. We expected this group to band together to safeguard their interests," said Anwar.
