A serious accident involving a trailer and a tanker has shut down northbound lanes on the North-South Expressway near Kulai, causing an 11-kilometre traffic jam.
KULAI: A major collision between a trailer and a tanker lorry has caused severe traffic congestion on the North-South Expressway heading north.
The crash occurred at KM40.6 this afternoon, forcing the closure of all northbound lanes to facilitate rescue and firefighting operations.
PLUS Malaysia Berhad stated in a Facebook post that traffic was diverted to the Kulai Toll Plaza, resulting in a backup that stretched up to 11 kilometres at its peak.
A contra flow lane has been activated from KM40.3 to KM40.65 on the southbound side to help ease the ongoing congestion, which still extends between six and eight kilometres.
Clean-up and vehicle removal work is actively ongoing, with some lanes being reopened to traffic in stages.
Members of the public are advised to plan their journeys carefully, use alternative routes, and follow all instructions from personnel at the scene.
