
KUALA LUMPUR – LRT services on the Kelana Jaya Line have resumed normal operations following a major power outage that disrupted services between Universiti and Abdullah Hukum stations earlier this evening.
In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) confirmed that the disruption, which occurred at approximately 5.06 pm, was resolved by 8.06 pm, allowing full service to be restored.
“The power supply disruption along the track between Universiti Station and Abdullah Hukum Station has been successfully resolved at 8.06 pm,” the company said.
The outage had caused two trains to stall between Universiti and Kerinchi stations. In response, the operations team provided alternative train services and deployed shuttle buses to assist stranded passengers.
“Our operations team has continued close monitoring to ensure the stability of services and smooth travel for passengers along the line,” Rapid Rail added.
As a precautionary measure, auxiliary police officers and station staff were stationed at platforms and concourse areas to manage passenger flow and ease congestion at the affected stations.
“As a precaution, auxiliary police officers and station personnel remain stationed at platforms and concourse areas to help manage crowd control at the affected stations,” the statement said.
Rapid Rail further assured commuters that a thorough investigation will be carried out to determine the cause of the incident and improve response procedures for future incidents.
“An in-depth investigation will be conducted to identify the root cause of this disruption and to enhance our procedures and response plans to ensure more efficient service delivery in the future,” it added.
The company expressed its gratitude to passengers for their patience and understanding during the disruption.
“Rapid Rail sincerely apologises for the inconvenience experienced by passengers due to this disruption and expresses its deepest regret for the difficulties faced,” the statement concluded.
Earlier, Rapid Rail had notified commuters that trains from Putra Heights were turning back at Taman Jaya, while a shuttle train was operating between Taman Jaya (Platform 2) and Bangsar (Platform 2) to assist with passenger movement.
The temporary bus service provided during the disruption has since been discontinued. — October 9, 2025
