MAKATI City announced Thursday the release of the first tranche of P5,000 Solo Parent Subsidy for 2,584 beneficiaries.
Mayor Nancy Binay said the aid is part of the Makati City Solo Parents Empowerment Program created under City Ordinance 2025-A-026, which provides a total annual benefit of P10,000 to each recipient in two equal tranches.
The first tranche is scheduled for release on or before July 1, while the second tranche will be released on or before Dec. 1 of each year.
“Solo parents carry a weight that most people do not fully see. They raise their children, manage their households, and hold their families together, often with very little support. This subsidy is our way of telling every solo parent in Makati: we see you, and this city has your back,” Binay said.
Eligible recipients must have a valid Solo Parent identification card issued by the Makati Social Welfare Department and a fully verified GCash account.
Solo parents who registered before June 1 are entitled to both the midyear and year-end incentives, while those who registered from June 1 to Nov. 1 will receive only the year-end tranche.
The program also provides solo parents and their dependents access to livelihood and skills training, educational assistance, healthcare services, PhilHealth coverage, psychosocial counseling, employment and work re-entry programs, and housing assistance.
It supports the provisions of the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act or Republic Act 11861.
Makati also provides a separate monthly P1,000 cash subsidy to 1,700 solo parents who are certified city residents earning minimum wage and below and are not recipients of other regular government cash assistance programs. JAMES DANIEL DANIO
