MAKKAH - The washing of the Holy Kaaba, scheduled on Tuesday, will be carried out in three main stages marked by meticulous care and precision that reflect the reverence due to the time and place, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Preparations begin with 15 litres of Zamzam water, 15 litres of rose water, 15 litres of rose oil, and 100 millilitres of oud oil.

The three stages are preparation, washing, then perfuming and incense burning.

The General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques said each stage is carried out with great care and precision, reflecting the status of the Holy Kaaba and befitting its deep-rooted place in the hearts of Muslims.

The authority said all materials used are carefully prepared in advance in line with the latest and highest standards and service systems for this global event.

Meanwhile, the President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque Sheikh Dr Abdulrahman Al-Sudais said that the washing of the Holy Kaaba reflects the Kingdom's enduring care for the sacred site, its reverence for Islamic rites, and its commitment to serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.

He said the Holy Kaaba is the qibla of Muslims and that its washing carries profound spiritual significance, reflecting the divine command to purify it.

The ritual also commemorates the Prophet Muhammad's cleansing of the Kaaba and removal of idols during the conquest of Makkah, reaffirming the message of monotheism.

Al-Sudais said the presidency is dedicated to conveying the religious message of the Two Holy Mosques, enriching visitors' religious experience, and promoting the values of moderation and balance.

He added that washing the Holy Kaaba reflects its sanctity and symbolises the honour of serving it and of honouring the sacred rites of Islam. - BERNAMA
