MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Wednesday said the reported arrest of fugitive senator Bato Dela Rosa was used by the camp of Vice President Sara Duterte as a "diversionary tactic" to “bury” the Commission on Audit’s finding about her confidential funds.
The statement comes after reports that Dela Rosa has been arrested, which the Department of Interior and Local Government was unable to confirm.
Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said the "motive behind the diversionary tactics employed by VP Sara's allies is evident.” “Be discerning—mainstream media remains the primary source to trust for verified news,” she added, pointing to the post made by lawyers Jimmy Bondoc and Harry Roque hinting on Dela Rosa’s arrest.
