Malacañang reacts to inappropriate student behavior in Marcos visit to Davao

MANILA, Philippines — Presidential Communication Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said learners whose leaders they are surrounded with are “rude, foul-mouthed, and pray for the misfortune of others,” will never learn proper conduct.

This comes after the Department of Education (DepEd) Davao apologized over four students’ “inappropriate behavior” during President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. 's visit.

“The youth will not learn proper conduct if the leaders they look up to or the people around them are also rude, foul-mouthed, and pray for the misfortune of others,” said Castro in Filipino.

She said that it was unfortunate that the incident occurred inside school premises, which she said reflects what they are learning from their home and their environment.

“Let us bring back decency to our country. Let us not neglect our youth,” she added.

The Deped said the students involved are now undergoing disciplinary action.
