Palace open to probing allegations against DOH chief

MALACAÑANG on Monday said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is studying the possibility of investigating a complaint filed by a group of “concerned citizens” against Health Secretary Brix Pujalte.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. “is not yet certain if he will issue such a request (for an investigation).”

On Friday, the group claimed that Pujalte had been seen gambling at Okada Manila and Solaire Resort and Casino, using the aliases “Louis Santos” and “Louiss Santos” to avoid public recognition.

Presidential Decree 1869 prohibits government officials and employees from gambling in casinos.

Pujalte has denied the allegations.

Castro said that, as of now, there is no concrete evidence and no preventive suspension has been issued.

“The administration is committed to due process. Any decision regarding the secretary’s position will be based on the outcome of the investigation. We will not act on mere allegations without substantiated proof,” she said.
