MALACAÑANG said aid will be provided to the family of a 41-year-old overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who died in Saudi Arabia.
”We shall assist the family,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro. The Palace said the remains of household service worker Remelyn Parlan Biscante arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on July 24. She worked for nine years in Saudi Arabia. Saudi authorities and the Philippine Embassy cleared her remains for repatriation, listing her cause of death as natural with no suspicious injuries. Her family, however, suspects foul play or severe abuse led to her death, citing the presence of alleged marks around the deceased’s neck and shoulder area. Biscante’s family signed a waiver before repatriation that her burial will be according to Islamic rites, noting her reported conversion to Islam by marriage in Saudi Arabia.
