In a thrilling quarter-final matchup of the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup held in Chengdu, the Malaysian badminton team clinched a 3-1 victory over Japan, securing their spot in the semi-finals.

Malaysia’s top player, Lee Zii Jia, set the pace with a commanding win over Kenta Nishimoto, scoring 21-13, 21-3.

The doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik fought hard in a close match against Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, finally prevailing with scores of 21-18, 14-21, 19-21.

Leong Jun Hao continued the winning streak with a 21-13, 21-10 victory over Koki Watanabe.

Although Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin faced a setback in their first game against Akira Koga and Taichi Saito, they bounced back to win 18-21, 21-15, 21-12, ensuring Malaysia’s triumphant advance.
