Wisma Putra urges Malaysians to defer non-essential travel to Venezuela due to the evolving security situation in the South American nation.

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly advised Malaysians to postpone all non-essential travel to Venezuela.

The advisory, issued by Wisma Putra, cites the evolving security situation in the South American country.

It reiterated that no Malaysians have been reported affected by recent developments there.

“The Embassy of Malaysia in Caracas remains in constant contact with registered Malaysians there,” the ministry stated.

It confirmed that all registered Malaysian citizens in Venezuela are accounted for and safe.

Wisma Putra said there has been no change to the status of Malaysians since its last update on 4 January.

The ministry will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates as necessary.
