Malaysia Beyblade

Malaysia has just set a new milestone in the blading community by being the first country to recognise Beyblade X as an official co-curricular activity in school.

Planting the seed as early as late December of 2024, Beyblades were worked into the national youth development system under the Rakan Muda initiative. This meant that students could compete in official tournaments for co-curricular points.

This program will be treated like any other recognised sport in the school system, with official BeyTRAINERS acting as coaches and mentors to their designated students. “The biggest challenge in introducing Beyblade is to make them [students] understand that a spinning top toy is not just a toy,” says BeyTRAINER, Muhammad Azlan Kamaruzaman. He, of course, is talking about the complexities of the game, which factor in builds, Bey types, launch technique, and the strategies involved.

This initiative will begin with the distribution of 1,000 Beyblade stadiums and 3,000 starter kits to various schools. This is part of the ultimate “Road to 1,000” goal of establishing 1,000 school Beyblade school clubs in Malaysia. This will eventually be expanded from primary to secondary education.

We feel that this is just the beginning, as Hong Kong too has been another place that has seen Beyblades take over social media, with toy shops selling some of the sought-after blades for as much as 5x retail price. The Beyblade craze has really hit hard.
