Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysia-China Friendship Association Sabah (MCFAS) paid a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu to express their appreciation for his pivotal role in establishing the association 13 years ago.
Led by MCFAS president Dr Oh Ei Sun, the delegation acknowledged Musa’s foresight in recognizing the growing interactions between Sabah and China, which ultimately inspired the formation of the association.
“We are here primarily to thank him for his inspiration and continuous guidance over the years,” Oh said.
During the meeting, the delegation briefed Musa on the association’s past activities, particularly in fostering educational and commercial exchanges between Sabah and China.
They also extended an invitation for him to officiate the opening of their new office.
Oh highlighted the association’s role in strengthening Malaysia-China relations, emphasizing that much of their work was inspired by Musa’s leadership, both past and present.
He added that Musa encouraged MCFAS to further enhance interactions and exchanges, particularly in attracting more investments and tourists from China.
“We are not shy about expressing that he laid the foundation of Sabah-China relations. A key example is the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), which was conceived and built during his tenure as Chief Minister. It has become a major hub for international exhibitions and events today,” he said.
Oh concluded by expressing hope that Musa will continue to guide Sabah’s development in the future.
Also present during the courtesy visit were MCFAS executive vice president-cum-secretary general Steven Liau Chee Kok, vice president Chok Shau Hing, deputy secretary general Chiew Chin Chung, treasurer general Ting Sing Tai, and executive committee members Yii Ming Seng, Tan Guay Keng, and Lim Chie Yen.
