Malaysia stamped its dominance at the ASEAN TVET Friendly Match 2025, sweeping seven out of nine gold medals across key vocational skill areas. The competition, which gathered 40 top young talents from 12 countries, served as a powerful platform for showcasing technical excellence and regional camaraderie.
Malaysian participants secured gold in Bricklaying, Carpentry, Cabinet Making, Digital Construction, Electrical Installations, Plumbing and Heating, and Welding—a performance that reflects the nation’s growing leadership in the ASEAN TVET landscape.
Describing the event as a celebration of skills and regional unity, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, said the match demonstrated ASEAN’s collective commitment to nurturing a resilient, future-ready, and competitive workforce.
“This is more than a competition—it’s a testament that skills are the engine of national development,” he said. “From bricklaying to digital design, from wiring to air-conditioning systems, every trade area tested not just technical expertise, but also mental endurance, creativity, and problem-solving agility.”
Aligned with WorldSkills Occupational Standards (WSOS), the event also served as a key simulation platform for upcoming international competitions, including the 14th WorldSkills ASEAN in Manila and the 3rd WorldSkills Asia in Taipei.
Malaysia’s strong showing reinforces its ongoing commitment to advancing TVET capacity-building and skills excellence across ASEAN, in line with its role as ASEAN Chair 2025.
