The Education Ministry has appointed 300 hostel warden assistants to enhance student safety and reduce the workload of teachers in boarding schools nationwide.

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 300 MyStep Hostel Warden Assistants have been appointed and deployed to boarding schools across the country from April 1.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek stated that the MyPWA personnel will assist wardens, particularly in night-time supervision, to ensure the safety, welfare and well-being of boarding students are continuously strengthened.

She explained that the move aligns with the aspirations of the Malaysia Education Blueprint 2026-2035, which emphasises the need for subject teachers to focus on teaching and learning activities.

“The implementation of the MyPWA initiative will be further expanded as part of efforts aligned with the safety reform agenda across all educational institutions under the Ministry of Education,” Fadhlina said in a statement.

This deployment is designed to ease the administrative and supervisory burden on teachers, allowing them to dedicate more time to their core pedagogical responsibilities.
