GLASGOW, July 25 — Malaysia finished seventh in the men’s 4x100 metres (m) freestyle relay final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games here last night.

The national quartet of Khiew Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal, Lim Yin Chuen and Tan Khai Xin finished with a time of 3 minutes 24.32 seconds (s) in the final at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

Australia powered to gold with a Games record time of 3:09.49 s, England claimed the silver in 3:11.69 s and South Africa the bronze with a time of 3:13.99 s.

The national quartet qualified for the final after finishing sixth overall in the heats with a time of 3:23.90 s earlier yesterday.

Malaysia’s national record in the event stands at 3:20.61 s, set by Hoe Yean, Arvin Shaun, Yin Chuen and Terence Ng at the 2023 SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The national swimming squad will continue their campaign tomorrow, with Yin Chuen and Arvin Shaun competing in the men’s 50 m freestyle, while Hoe Yean and Khai Xin will feature in the men’s 400 m freestyle. — Bernama
