THE Malaysia Futsal Cup third place match between Sabah and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) at the N9 Arena, Nilai today sparked controversy when Sabah head coach Roger Filipe was punched by his own officials.
Before the unfortunate incident, Sabah was leading JDT 3-1 but the team later allowed their opponents to recover and the match ended in a dramatic 3-4 defeat.
As soon as the final whistle blew, Roger Filipe seemed unable to control his emotions and aggressively entered the court.
He tried to be calmed down by one of the team officials, but instead elbowed the official.
As a result, the official punched Roger until he was lying on the court.
What was embarrassing was that the match and the incident were broadcast live on Astro Arena channel 801. - August 23, 2025
