Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi leads tributes to Dr Ling Liong Sik, honouring his decades of service to the nation’s transport and education sectors

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described the passing of former transport minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik as a great loss to the nation.

He expressed his condolences in a Facebook post, honouring the late leader’s dedicated service.

Ahmad Zahid said Dr Ling would be remembered for developing the country’s transport sector and strengthening educational institutions.

He noted these contributions continue to benefit present generations.

The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted Dr Ling’s deep commitment and love for the country and the party, especially during his time in Barisan Nasional (BN).

“His services and contributions will remain etched in history and be remembered by all Malaysians,” Ahmad Zahid said.

He extended his prayers to the family of the late Dr Ling for strength and resilience.

“The nation mourns with you,” he added in his statement.

Dr Ling, 82, who was also MCA honorary life president, passed away.

The former MCA president was among the longest-serving veteran politicians in the Cabinet.
