A viral video from Thailand caught the attention of Malaysians recently, showing a Penang-registered white luxury MPV in Hatyai illegally parking by the roadside in the city and worse, blocking the road for users who want to turn left.
Shared by @diangsiam on TikTok, the video has garnered over 346,000 views and more than 11,000 likes, with the comments section full of Malaysians criticising the luxury MPV’s owner for besmirching our country’s name while overseas.
A Malaysia-registered luxury MPV clamped in Hatyai for blocking the road
The 24-second video, recorded from inside a vehicle, showed the white luxury MPV parking on the left side, right in front of a traffic light.
Furthermore, there were also clear road markings on the road, which showed that the lane was meant for vehicles to turn left.
A Thai police officer can then be seen putting a clamp on the vehicle’s front right tyre before leaving.
In the caption, @dingsiam wrote in Thai, saying,
“Dear Malaysians, my country has laws.”

Malaysians bash the vehicle owner for not respecting local laws while in Thailand
In the comments section, Malaysians bashed the luxury MPV’s owner and advised others who plan to drive to Thailand to adhere to the local traffic laws and regulations.
One commenter said that the owner should’ve known better as they parked literally in front of a traffic light.
Meanwhile, another commenter said that the owner must be someone who parked like it’s their father’s road in Malaysia, too.
Another Malaysian echoed the same sentiment, saying that the owner must’ve thought they were still in their own country to act this way.
