
A seven-member Sabahan team will be representing Malaysia at the IFMA (International Federation of Muaythai Associations) Youth World Championship and U23 World Cup in Antalya, Turkey starting Sunday (October 1) until October 8.
The six athletes who are to compete in the U23 World Cup are Nur Insyirah Mandol (combat 45kg), Myra Arina Roslan/Derora Dane Daniel (mai muay female duo), Asyraf Danial Abdul Latif/Dariss Muzzamiel Mahadi (mai muay male duo) and Yan Jia Chi (waikru female).
Dariss Muzzamiel will also be taking part in the individual wai kru event in the World Cup, while Eva Anastasia Warren (combat 48kg) is the sole representative in the 15-17 category of the Youth Championship.
Sabah Muaythai Association presiden Nazri Ab Razak has set the contingent a two-podium finish target at the competition.

“I am very confident that our athletes will be at their best to give a very competitive fight against their counterparts from other countries,” he said.
Athletes from more than 120 countries all over the world are set to compete in the annual event.
Meanwhile, the contingent led by State head coach Cyrille Dhillon Tahing accompanied by Sukma coaches Mardiana Maulana and Rozaimy Ahad left for Antalya on Friday with the exception of Yan Jia Chi who had arrived at the destination earlier.
