Malaysia’s baseball team lost 9-5 to Laos, ending their medal chances at the SEA Games 2025 despite having two group matches remaining.

MALAYSIA’S baseball squad saw its medal hopes extinguished after a 9-5 defeat to Laos at the Baseball Stadium, Queen Sirikit Sports Centre, in Pathum Thani today.

The loss in this SEA Games Thailand 2025 group match means Malaysia cannot progress to the next stage.

The team showed commendable effort but could not match Laos’s consistency and control on the field.

Malaysia still has two remaining Group A fixtures, facing Singapore tomorrow and hosts Thailand on Thursday.

Only the group winner and the best runner-up will qualify for the final.

The third- and fourth-placed teams will contest the bronze medal match.

In an earlier match, the Philippines recorded a dominant 20-1 victory over Vietnam.

The SEA Games, co-hosted by Bangkok and Chonburi, officially began today and will run until December 20.
