KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 — National professional mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing opened the 2026 China Masters Badminton Championship campaign on the right foot after defeating Hong Kong's representatives in the first round in Shenzhen, today.

In the action held at the Shenzhen Arena, the pair formed about four months ago displayed excellent performance to defeat Chan Yin Chak-Ng Tsz Yau 21-12, 16-21, 21-11 in a 51-minute battle.

The victory saw Pang Ron-Pei Jing advance to the second round to face the tournament's sixth seeds from China, Cheng Xing-Zhang Chi.

Meanwhile, another national mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie-Cheng Su Yin, who were paired together for the first time, were defeated in the first round.

They lost to the home team Guo Xin Wa-Chen Fang Hui 14-21, 19-21. — Bernama
