KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will host a major international conference for Islamic scholars and leaders this June.
The event at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is a strategic collaboration between the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Muslim World League (MWL).
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan (pic) announced the agreement followed talks during his working visit to Saudi Arabia.
He was invited by MWL secretary-general Sheikh Dr Mohammed Abdulkarim Al-Issa for discussions in Makkah, Jeddah and Riyadh.
Zulkifli said the talks focused on exchanging ideas and shaping Islam’s future at regional and global levels.
“This journey is not just about distance, but a mission to unite the ummah and foster brotherhood and global cooperation,” he said in a Facebook post.
He urged Muslims to seize the opportunity to build a knowledgeable society and strengthen unity.
“From here we start, and we must do our utmost to carry out Islah (reform). The world is watching, and the future of Islam is in our hands,” he added.
Zulkifli also noted that Mohammed Abdulkarim praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The MWL leader described Anwar as a distinguished intellectual and leading Islamic thinker.
