Malaysia to offer medical aid to Palestinians

MALAYSIA is ready to offer medical aid to Palestinians who are suffering in the Israel-Gaza war, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said

He said the aid is for women and children, who will be brought to Malaysia for treatment, if necessary.

"Insha-Allah, we will try our best to help them. We will speak up (for Palestine) no matter who is standing before us," he said.

"And we will provide medical assistance to those who are sick, whether for them to be treated there (in Gaza) or to bring them over here for treatment. We will keep helping them.

"The government will provide funds (for this purpose), and I will also discuss this with several other countries," Anwar said in his speech at the Free Palestine rally in Bukit Jalil last night.

The gathering was organised by the federal government and groups to show solidarity with the Palestinians and to condemn the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.

"I am in touch with (Egyptian President) Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, to seek his assistance in facilitating humanitarian support to bring back some of the injured Palestinian women and children to be treated in Malaysia," Anwar said.

He has also reached out to other Islamic leaders, including the Turkish president and Bahrain king, to seek assistance for Palestine. – August 5, 2024.
