The government has announced that the theme ‘Shared Prosperity (Kesejahteraan Dinikmati)’ for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HK&HM) celebrations. According to Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, that “It reflects the government's vision of building a progressive, inclusive and harmonious nation, where prosperity is not only enjoyed by certain groups but by all Malaysians. The celebrations for this year will be held slightly on a moderate scale compared to previous years. However, it will be ‘no less festive’ & ‘we will have fun’ for 2026 HK&HM celebrations." For me as CEO Sejahtera Leadership Initiative (SLI), a civil society catalyst group founded by Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato' Dzulkifli Abdul Razak that promotes holistic, balanced leadership and sustainable well-being aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), I am happy with the decision of the government to adopt the theme ‘Shared Prosperity (Kesejahteraan Dinikmati)' for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day.

The international term 'Global Sejahtera’ refers to the broader framework of fostering universal wellbeing, peaceful coexistence, and sustainability on a global scale through values rooted in this holistic philosophy. SLI focuses on achieving balance across work, home, community, and self without treating life domains as a zero-sum game with SPICES Framework that promotes holistic development encompassing spiritual, physical, intellectual, emotional, and social dimensions. As for the Global Sejahtera Concept, we expands the indigenous sejahtera (prosperity and wellbeing) concept into an international dialogue for social cohesion. The Global Goals connects local values of harmony, justice, and community resilience directly with international sustainability targets. Sejahtera concept has been 30 years in the making. The list of scholars and champions whom we are indebted to is extensive. Here I will mention a few of the most memorable ones: Excellency Lyonpo Dr. TS Powdyel, Prof Dr. Park Eun Kyung, Prof Dr. Raymond Ooi, Prof Naqi Azam & Prof Dr. Nadarajah Manikam.
