The official national theme for this year's Merdeka & Malaysia Day celebrations is “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraaan Dinikmati”, the spirit of Malaysia Kita (Our Malaysia) focuses on bringing people of all races and backgrounds together. I am really amazed listening to the Theme Song which tune into the official anthem for this year's celebrations titled “Aku Berjanji” (I promise) composed and performed by singer, Faizal Tahir. It highlights shared promises of loyalty, peace and unity. I have already urged my family especially my primary school grandchildren to fly the flag together. My neighborhood residence community association is organizing join the 'Satu Rumah, Satu Jalur Gemilang" campaign by flying the national flag outside our home or office. Our local neighborhoods and the surau community organize communal clean-ups. This traditional practice reinforces bonds among neighbors of all backgrounds. I trust the “Malaysia Kita” and national month celebrations in 2026 have delivered significant benefits across tourism, economic growth, and social unity. As part of the broader Visit Malaysia (VM) 2026, these celebrations act as a powerful engine for both community bonding and national development. I've shared with my grandchildren that spurring with campaign like “Cerita Malaysia Kita” at Sunway Lagoon support the government's target of bringing in 35.6 million global visitors & generating RM147.1 billion in tourism growth. As a Malaysian who had spend 2 years working and living in Sabah and Sarawak, I look forward to watch and enjoy the high-profile cultural showcases rich indigenous heritage of Malaysian Borneo through traditional dances like the Magunatip & Ngajat, distinctive music played on the Sape, unique inticate handwoven crafts & vibrant harvest festivals like Kaamatan (Sabah) and Gawai (Dayak Sarawak). I want my grandkids to watch the vibrant performances.
