225 Malaysian medical personnel will serve pilgrims in Saudi Arabia for the 2026 haj season, adapting to new operational protocols.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 225 Malaysian medical personnel will depart for Saudi Arabia next week to serve during the 1447H/2026 haj season.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that haj operations remain well-managed despite ongoing geopolitical challenges in West Asia.

He credited strong diplomacy by the government and cooperation with Saudi authorities for the stable situation.

Dr Dzulkefly urged the personnel to respond with the highest level of commitment to the government’s efforts.

This year’s operations will require the team to be more responsive and dynamic due to a key operational change.

The absence of a dedicated Tabung Haji treatment centre means pilgrims will be referred directly to Saudi government hospitals.

“This requires personnel to demonstrate proactiveness, patience and diplomacy,” the minister said in a Facebook post.

He made these remarks after meeting the 225 personnel at a session with the Ministry of Health’s top management in Putrajaya.

Dr Dzulkefly also congratulated the team and reminded them to carry out their duties responsibly.

He emphasised their service was for the sake of the nation, religion and humanity.
