Malaysia’s mixed doubles pairs advance at the All England, while men’s doubles duo Nur Azriyn-Tan Wee Kiong suffer an early exit

MALAYSIA’S professional mixed doubles pairs secured their spots in the second round of the All England Open.

The independent pair of Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai Jemie progressed with a straight-games victory over England’s Callum Hemming and Estelle Van Leeuwen.

They will next face tournament second seeds Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin of China for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Malaysian duo have a challenging record against the Chinese pair, managing just one win in 10 previous encounters.

That sole victory came at the 2024 China Open.

In the men’s doubles, the Malaysian campaign suffered a setback as Nur Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong were eliminated.

They lost in straight games to Taiwan’s Chiu Hsiang Chieh and Wang Chi Lin in their third meeting.
