MACAU: A 19-year-old Malaysian man has been arrested here after allegedly attempting to smuggle 8.9 kilogrammes of cannabis, Kosmo reported.
Police said the teenager was detained upon arrival at Macau International Airport, where his luggage was searched.
Sixteen foil-wrapped packages containing cannabis were discovered, with an estimated black-market value of MOP9 million (RM4.7 million).
During questioning, the suspect admitted he was paid MOP9,547 (RM5,030) by a drug syndicate to deliver the drugs to Hong Kong through Macau.
The youth, who told police he worked as a maintenance worker, is now under investigation by the Public Prosecutions Office to trace the drug source and identify others involved.
