PUTRAJAYA: Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM) is expected to send 400 experienced staff to the Sokol International Circuit in Almaty, Kazakhstan to assist them in organising the Kazakhstan Motorcycle Grand Prix on June 14-16.

MAM president Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir (pix) said the circuit organiser sought MAM's assistance as it felt that Malaysia had the expertise and experience to share with it to ensure the smooth running of the prestigious race.

He said MAM, however, is looking into whether it has sufficient manpower to be flown to Kazakhstan.

“For now, we are looking at their needs because the organiser there asked us for experienced staff, like marshals, race stewards and clerks of the course (COC).

“Last time, we too learned from outsiders in 1999 when we wanted to hold the Formula One (F1) race at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), we sought help from officials from the Australian Circuit,” he said when met during the MAM Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration here today.

Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, former Prime Minster Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
