- Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah, a Libyan man acquitted over the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, has died, his former employer Libyan Airlines announced.
- Fhimah was cleared of involvement in the Pan Am Flight 103 explosion, which killed 270 people, following a trial in the Hague in 2001.
- His co-accused, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, remains the only person convicted over the attack, having died in Libya in 2012 after his compassionate release from prison.
- Fhimah previously served as a station manager for Libyan Airlines in Malta, leaving the post shortly before the bombing took place.
- Jury selection in the US trial of Abu Agila Masud, who is accused of building the bomb, was recently postponed ahead of a hearing in Washington.
