KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — A permanent resident Indonesian man died after his motorcycle crashed into a fallen tree along Jalan Kampung Merang on the Kuala Terengganu–Kota Bharu coastal route late last night.

Bernama reported that the victim, identified as 68‑year‑old construction worker Darman Khamis, was believed to be travelling from Kuala Terengganu towards Kampung Bari Besar when the crash occurred.

Setiu district police chief Supt Zahril Asri Mohd Zain said police received information about the accident at about 12.10am from the Setiu district police traffic complaint counter.

“Initial investigations found that the victim crashed into a tree that had fallen on the right side of the road and was obstructing the route,” he said.

Medical personnel confirmed the victim’s death at the scene before the body was sent to the Setiu Hospital Forensic Unit for a post‑mortem.

Police said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Witnesses with information have been asked to contact investigating officer Inspector Mohamad Thaufiq Ahmad Azudin at 011‑26069043 or visit the IPD Setiu Traffic Office.
