Man allegedly punches and slaps wife after being asked to buy ‘ayam gepuk’

A woman was assaulted by her husband simply for asking him to buy 'ayam gepuk' due to a craving at a flat on Jalan Ikan Ayu, Cheras.

KUALA LUMPUR – A housewife was allegedly assaulted by her husband after she asked him to buy ayam gepuk due to a craving, in an incident at a flat in Cheras, on Wednesday.

According to the victim, her husband became enraged by the request, scolding and verbally abusing her before the confrontation turned physical.

Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud confirmed that the police received a report regarding the incident at 9.03pm on the same day.

“The victim claimed that the request angered the suspect, who then started shouting and cursing. The suspect then allegedly choked the victim and held a knife against her neck,” he said.

Rosdi added that the suspect also slapped the victim’s face and punched her in the head.

“The victim sustained an injury to the right side of her neck and sought treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), Cheras. She subsequently lodged a police report for further action,” he added.
