PENANG: A man was arrested after allegedly trying to cheat a hypermarket in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, by hiding beer in bottled-water cartons to pay less.
According to China Press, the incident occurred on Oct 21 when the man allegedly brought several resealed cartons to the cashier.
The cashier became suspicious and checked the cartons, found beer inside, and alerted the police.
The man allegedly concealed 18 packs of beer, each containing six cans, inside cartons from several bottled water brands.
Police arrested the suspect at the scene, while photos and videos of the incident later went viral on social media.
