
Police detain suspect after a man was slashed and his motorcycle set on fire in Yan, Kedah, following a dispute over a damaged drain pipe.
ALOR SETAR: Police have arrested a man suspected of slashing another individual and setting the victim’s motorcycle on fire in Yan.
The incident occurred at about 7 pm yesterday at Jalan Singkir Badong, involving a 34-year-old motorcyclist and a 41-year-old suspect.
Yan Police chief Supt Mohamad Hamizi Abdullah said the victim was attacked while riding, leading to a struggle where he sustained a slash wound to his right wrist.
The victim managed to escape, leaving his motorcycle behind.
“The suspect then removed the petrol pipe and set the motorcycle on fire,” Mohamad Hamizi said in a statement.
Police arrested the suspect at 8 pm on the same day and seized the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
Investigation revealed the suspect was unhappy with the victim for repairing a water drainage pipe he had damaged.
The suspect has two prior criminal records related to drugs.
Further investigations are being conducted under Sections 324 and 435 of the Penal Code.
