Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hinted that he could wait to give new signing Josko Gvardiol his first start for the club.
The Croatian centre half is a mega money arrival this summer from RB Leipzig.
While Gvardiol is fully fit and match sharp, his manager wants to ease him into games.
"I was really pleased for his debut at Burnley," the manager said ahead of the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla on Wednesday.
"Unfortunately he didn't have much time to train together for the schedule that we have.
After the Newcastle game [on Saturday night] we have eight days to train. Step by step. Of course he's here, if we decide to play he's more than ready to do it."
