Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes his side is close to its best form ahead of the new season.
City were promising, yet rusty, in the Community Shield against Liverpool on Sunday.
They had plenty of chances to score, but ended up losing 3-1 to the Reds in the game at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
"We are closer. Days ago we played against Bayern and did a very good performance and against Liverpool we did very good things," manager Guardiola told reporters post-game.
"I don't feel that we are far away. But the end of the pitch will dictate what happens against West Ham and Bournemouth. It will dictate our level. There are process that will not be perfect, and that we will have to correct, and we will improve."
