Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola explained his word with Erling Haaland after victory at Manchester United.

Haaland finished with two goals in the 3-0 win, but Guardiola felt he could've ended with more.

He said: "It was the chance in the last minute of the first half when Onana made the save.

"I had the feeling he doesn't need to go strong and attack, he just needs to touch it. You have to put the ball in the right spot.

"But Erling is a machine. He scored two goals and could have scored four. He is incredible. We are confident when we have him there. I'm really pleased."

The manager also stated: "What we want is to play better, we are always focused on the way we play.

"The results are so important and there are moments you have to defend, and moments in the last minute where have to be smart and intelligent, but overall you have to play good.

"The [Champions League] game in Switzerland helped us a lot, to help us understand what we have to do.

"But the mentality of the players is always there - 80% of these guys have won five Premier Leagues and the treble. Of course you can lose games but the level is there."
