Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has urged Xavi to bounce back after his dismissal by Barcelona.
Xavi, who played for Guardiola at Barca, was sacked on Friday.
Guardiola said: "What can I say? It's never good news because it means that something didn't work.
"A manager sacked by the club. I don't know the reasons for what happened. We spoke today at breakfast of so many technician dismissals. Normally managers move a lot.
"In our job you have to win otherwise you are in a dangerous position, whether you are young or old, you have to win, do a good job and be good at many things otherwise this happens."
