Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan is now the club's captain after the departure of Fernandinho.

The Brazilian was City's skipper for several years, but has now departed the club and been replaced in the squad by Kalvin Phillips.

City's players voted recently to give Gundogan the captaincy, due to his leadership skills and longevity at the club.

According to The Telegraph, he is official captain, while Kevin De Bruyne is the vice captain.

Rodri, Kyle Walker, and Ruben Dias are all a part of the leadership group as well.

The Spanish midfielder is an addition to that group, having recently signed a new deal with City to take him to 2027.
