Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez admits he can sense opposition teams lifting themselves when facing the Sky Blues.

Alvarez is now in his second season with City.

We knew that after winning everything last season all the other teams were going to play in a different way, knowing that we are champions," he told the club's website.

But being conscious of this makes you even more alert and makes you go into games paying full attention, trying to reach the highest level possible as an individual and as a team to win as we have been doing."

He added: I've been here for a year now and I've learnt a lot, how to move in different spaces.

Now I'm playing in this different position a little deeper, closer to the centre midfield, as I did a few times last season too.

After getting minutes and being here for a year I've learnt a lot, watching my teammates, listening to them, the coaching staff, watching videos and things like that, to be more effective on the pitch, to know where the spaces are and to link up better with my teammates to create goalscoring chances."
