Manchester City want to cancel a release clause in the contract of forward Erling Haaland.
The Norway striker is enjoying his best season to date, with the 22-year-old having 47 goals in 40 games in all competitions.
Haaland scored again in midweek in a 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich, which put them through into the semi finals of the Champions League.
According to The Athletic, City are ready to end any talk of a release clause in the forward's contract.
They are set to offer him fresh terms on a longer term deal that would not include such an exit strategy.
At present, Haaland can leave in the summer of 2024 for a mega fee of up to 150 million.
