Kota Kinabalu: An undocumented immigrant claimed trial to four charges, including impersonating an Immigration enforcement officer and allegedly extorting RM1,500 from a passport holder.
Ratno William Foo pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Helmy Yunus to impersonating an Immigration officer by introducing himself as an enforcement officer to Londong Antong at a house in Kampung Koidupan Sugud, Penampang, at 12.10am on Aug 28.
He was also accused of wearing an official uniform and carrying a shoulder strap bearing the Malaysian Immigration Department logo with the intention of making others believe he was an Immigration enforcement officer at the same place and time.
Ratno further allegedly put Londong in fear of being arrested by Immigration and dishonestly induced him to hand over RM1,500, as well as deceived Velantino Koten Joseph into believing that he was a Malaysian citizen by providing an identity card number which he allegedly knew to be untrue.
The court fixed Oct 15 for mention and ordered Ratno, who was unrepresented, to be further remanded pending disposal of the case, while Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronnie Anthony appeared for the prosecution.
