
Kota Kinabalu: An undocumented immigrant and a local man claimed trial at the High Court on Monday to trafficking 1,418.1gm of syabu.
Roel Bakri, 27, and Karl Ryan Dee Muniany, 26, pleaded not guilty before Judicial Commissioner Dayang Ellyn Narisa Abang Ahmad to trafficking the drug at a car park in Lorong Pusat Komersil 88, Kepayan, at 7pm on May 11.
The charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 is punishable under Section 39B(2) with death or life imprisonment and at least 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction, while the court fixed Oct 12 for pre-trial case management and ordered both to be further remanded.
Meanwhile, 21-year-old babysitter Airil Azwa Mazreh claimed trial before Sessions Court Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan to allowing another person, without lawful authority, to control a bank account registered in her name at Taman Golf View, Jalan Bundusan, Penampang, on Jan 24, 2025.
Azwa, who faces a charge under Section 424B of the Penal Code, was released on RM10,000 bail with RM1,000 deposited in a local surety pending pre-trial case management on Nov 5.
