Man positive for drugs, brandishes meat cleaver at delivery rider (video)

DISSATISFIED with a food delivery rider who was slow to refuel his motorcycle, a man brandished a meat cleaver at him at a petrol station on Jalan Pasir Panjang, Kuala Terengganu, yesterday.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd. Noor said the incident occurred at about 4.30 pm when the 26-year-old victim was refuelling his motorcycle at the petrol station.

He said the 55-year-old suspect came riding a Honda Wave motorcycle before stopping behind the victim's motorcycle.

"The suspect then shouted at the victim, claiming he was slow to refuel his motorcycle tank. The suspect then took a meat cleaver from the basket of his motorcycle before brandishing it at the victim," he said.

Azli said the victim then fled to avoid being harmed by the suspect.

He said the incident was also witnessed by a petrol station worker who was nearby.

“The witness knew the suspect because the man often came to the petrol station to refuel his motorcycle. Following a police report made by the victim, a team of policemen arrested the suspect,” he said.

Police seized a meat cleaver about 32 centimetres long, a Honda Wave 110 motorcycle and clothes believed to be related to the incident.

“A urine test found the suspect positive for methamphetamine. An application for a remand against the suspect was made at the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court for four days, until August 13 to assist in the investigation under Section 506 of the Penal Code for making criminal threats,” he said. – August 10, 2026
